You have a choice of two Subaru BOXER® engines for the 2020 Subaru Legacy, both of which are horizontally opposed and have dual overhead cams, direct injection, and the dual active valve control system.

The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder generates 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque while getting up to an EPA-estimated 35 mpg on the highway and 27 mpg in the city.

The available 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque with 32 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg in the city.

The Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission features adaptive control and an eight-speed manual mode that you access through paddle shifters. Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive improves handling and traction by routing power to all four wheels, giving you maximum traction on rough terrain and under challenging weather conditions.

Interior and Design

Riders in the 2020 Subaru Legacy will enjoy a cabin that has been made quieter by the extensive use of high-strength steel that delivers more rigidity, durability, and vibration resistance. You can power-adjust the driver's seat in up to ten ways and store the settings in two-position memory. Leather is available to cover the seats, steering wheel, and shifter handle.

Heating and ventilation can be built into the front seats for added comfort under all kinds of weather. Otherwise, dual-zone climate control lets you and your front passenger define separate environments. An overhead console includes dual map lights and storage for sunglasses. You can keep valuables close at hand in the center console, which has a storage tray and an enclosed storage box with lid.

The new 2020 Subaru Legacy provides several features for protecting Park City and West Valley City drivers and their passengers, some of which are part of EyeSight® driver-assist technology:

  • Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control manages your speed automatically so that you're always at a safe distance from the next vehicle.
  • Automatic Pre-Collision Braking can prevent accidents by applying the brakes before you collide with another vehicle.
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning informs you if you're drifting or swaying outside of your lane without signaling.
  • Lane Keep Assist slightly adjusts steering, so that you remain within your lane.
  • Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist tells you if another vehicle is in your blind zone when you change lanes.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert warns you if a vehicle is crossing your path as you back out of a parking spot.
  • Reverse Automatic Braking can stop your vehicle before it backs into a hazard.
