Discover Northern Utah Adventure in the New 2020 Subaru Outback

Leave Salt Lake City, and along the northeast corner of Salt Lake Valley, prospects for exploring the great outdoors spread out in every direction. It takes a wagon firmly established in the orienteering tradition to take you across those horizons.

You'll need an SUV that's not just any crossover, but one that's come into its own as a rugged model of choice among nature-lovers across the north of Utah. That's the new Subaru Outback. Now that it's returned to Mark Miller Subaru for 2020, you 'll see why it's the most dependable, safest, and readiest for adventurous yet.

What's New for 2020?

Body panels to chassis, Subaru Outback is all-new, built on the new Subaru Global Platform, with a new structure that makes it safer, quieter, and that results in a more dynamic drive. It's also got an upgraded base engine, an altogether new engine option, much more tech, and a more refined feel than past generations.

Design Features

Thicker panel surfaces, for one, make Subaru Outback more robust. Its rear gate has also been raised for easier access to the cargo hold, and a more dynamic silhouette's sure to turn heads around South Salt Lake. Its fenders are widener, coming to a head in a prominent hexagonal grille, its front cladding's more protective, and, on all models except the base, corner LED fog lighting comes standard. A standard roof rail system, built-in crossbars, and enhanced tie-downs put the finishing touches on a combo of utility and stylish looks.

Power and Performance Features

Most Subaru Outback trims come standard with an upgraded 182-horsepower direct-injected SUBARU BOXER engine that produces a spirited 176 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims get a 260-horsepower, 2.4-liter turbo workhorse ready to put out 277 pound-feet. Bring Start-Stop Technology and a Lineartronic CVT into the mix. Excellent fuel economy results. Subaru Outback can get up to 26 mpg in a city like Park City and 33 mpg down the highway to locales like West Valley City. That's a more-than-600-mile cruising range, ideal for road trips. Ground clearance at 8.7 inches and a 2,700-to-3,500-pound towing capacity make it easy to haul a dirt bike, an ATV, a jet ski, or another light-to-medium-size trailerful along with you.

Safety and Driver-Assist Features

Every Subaru Outback standardizes our brand's permanent, always-on AWD system, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Its X-MODE helps compensate for wheel slip and steering while optimizing traction. EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, a Subaru-exclusive suite of driver aids, also comes standard, offering peace of mind that's even more comprehensive. It features auto pre-collision brakes and an all-new advanced adaptive cruise control system with lane centering, which minimizes steering, braking, and throttle efforts, thereby reducing driver fatigue. Other available security features include DriverFocus distraction mitigation, a blind-spot detector, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse auto braking, and a SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security suite with expanded remote service features.

Interior Features

Subaru Outback comes completely redesigned inside, with a roomy 109 cubic feet of space for passengers at maximum and as many as 75.7 cubic feet for cargo, easily accessible by an optional hands-free power rear gate. Its cabin's home to exceptional-quality soft-touch materials, premium-feel trim, and fetching contrast stitching. Cloth seating is standard, StarTex water-resistant upholstery is available, and Java Brown Nappa leather is optional in higher trims. Front seats come available both ventilated and heated, and perks such as heated rear seating and a heated steering wheel create the lap of luxury.

Technology Features

The Subaru Outback command center features a choice between a 7-inch and a new, massive tablet-sized 11.6-inch high-res STARLINK Multimedia infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, enabling smartphone interface and access via the dash. Options such as 4G LTE Wi-Fi put you on the Net out of the way of civilization, while an available 576-watt, 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system transforms travel mixes into vacation soundtracks.
