Subaru Community Involvement

At Mark Miller Subaru Midtown, we’re dedicated to helping out our local community in more ways than just buying a new car. As a Subaru dealership, one of the ways we aim to serve our community is to be as involved in the lives of our Salt Lake City customers as possible. That means that we give back to our community, which gives so much to us, and we aim to improve many areas of their lives, one project at a time.

2023 Leader in Sustainability Award

This award is presented by Cox Automotive and recognizes dealerships who go above and beyond to create in-dealership programs related to waste reduction, energy, or water conservation. The dealership that wins the award is deemed outstanding in being creative, innovative, and engaged with its community. We’ve already been getting a headstart on keeping our Park City-area community more sustainable, by donating over $3.2 million to people, pets, the planet, and other eco-friendly charities. We were also the first dealership in Utah to be certified in the Subaru Eco-Friendly Retailer Program. 

What do our sustainability efforts look like? Both of our dealerships are solar-powered and have efficient water reclamation systems. On top of that, both of our dealerships also have over 1,200 solar panels on the roofs. By achieving this, we’re able to get 60% of our power from solar power. Also, we recycle our water for all car washes, meaning that we’re saving 75 gallons of water per car wash!

Supporting English Language Learners at West Lake Jr. High

Mark Miller Subaru Midtown has partnered with the Utah Jazz to create a joint philanthropic program designed to help improve learning in the community. One of the first beneficiaries of this program was West Lake STEM Jr. High School. Many students were impacted by the 2020 earthquake that happened in Utah, with much of the school being damaged. Many of the students impacted were English language learners (ELL) or students who don’t speak English as a primary language. 

To assist with the ELL students, Mark Miller Subaru Midtown and the Utah Jazz donated a combined $30,000 to West Lake Jr. High School. The money is being used to create a new language lab in the school to assist ELL students with all areas of learning. 

$200,000 Donated in the 14th Annual Subaru Share the Love Event

The Subaru Share the Love Event is an event sponsored by Subaru in which Subaru dealerships are encouraged to give back to their communities. As part of our Subaru community involvement for the 14th Subaru Share the Love Event, Mark Miller Subaru Midtown donated nearly $200,000, which is our largest donation ever! Of that donation, $92,913 went to Summit Land Conservancy, and $106,054 went to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.
