On June 30th, Mark Miller Subaru partnered with Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and Utah Cancer Specialists - Intermountain Medical Center through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership includes delivering blankets and messages of hope to cancer patients. We are so grateful to Mark Miller Subaru for continuing to show up for our community, and it was incredible to partner with Utah Cancer Specialists - Intermountain Medical Center as the recipient of their generous donation. It was truly a meaningful day! Featured is our 2026 Honored Hero, Aiden, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at just four years old. Today, he is a thriving 2nd grader who loves hockey and dreams of becoming a pediatric oncologist to help other kids like him. As one of Mark Miller Subaru's local charity partners during the annual Share the Love Event, USARA was selected by customers purchasing or leasing new Subaru vehicles throughout the holiday season. Those choices translated into meaningful support for recovery services, family support, and community events that bring people together. What made this partnership especially meaningful was that Mark Miller Subaru didn't just provide funding—they showed up. When they presented their donation, they joined us at Family Fun Night and generously provided dinner for approximately 60 attendees, including families, USARA participants, and clients from two treatment centers. The evening was filled with laughter, connection, and the reminder that recovery is strengthened through community. Every day, USARA helps individuals and families navigate recovery by providing peer support, resources, and opportunities to build healthy relationships. During the month of March, Equality Utah and Mark Miller Subaru launched a month long collaboration - "Driving Forward Together." This campaign was used to bring about awareness to Equality and current legislation in Utah and bring in traffic to test drive Subarus, For every test drive that signed up and came in, Mark Miller would donate $25 dollars to Equality Utah. To bring awareness in the stores, we constructed a visual that looked like a Highway and used Positive Equality Messaging as Highway Signs. We also made Car Air Fresheners as give aways in stores so that patrons can take something with them as reminder. This was very impactful this year especially as this legislation session in Utah was especially difficult. Many targeted and hurtful bills were proposed this session directly attacking the LGBTQ Community and their families. This added support and awareness helps the community stand together.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For hundreds of students throughout the Granite School District, this is the reality. During Loves to Help month, Mark Miller Subaru donated 408 Coats to Granite Education Foundation. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it has a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being. The impact on the families in our district is huge and our social workers tell us stories everyday how donations like this change outcomes. Here is a story from a social worker who benefitted from our clothing program: "I have a refugee family [at our school]. The mom came to look through our supply of hygiene, food, and clothing. When she was going through the items and seeing what she wanted, she jumped up and down, was singing out loud, and had the biggest grin on her face. She would look at me and say oh thank God! Thank God! God bless you! It was great to feel that love, but I know that most of the credit goes to the Foundation and donor. Thanks for helping me feel a little lighter that day, and giving this family a chance to have the things that they need!" Not only do donations like this make the difference for students and families, it makes all the difference to our educators who have something to provide to families in need. THANK YOU!

It began like any other school day at Bacchus Elementary School in Granite School District. Students arrived with backpacks in tow, teachers opened their classroom doors, and the day followed its familiar rhythm. Then Mark Miller Subaru walked in and everything changed. Through their generosity, the school day was transformed into something extraordinary. With help from the Utah Jazz (and everyone's favorite Bear), Mark Miller Subaru brought games, laughter, and thoughtful gifts that reached every single student and teacher in the building. Not every child experiences the holidays in the same way. For some students, this season can be filled with uncertainty or go by quietly. Mark Miller Subaru helped change that story at Bacchus Elementary, making sure every student felt seen, celebrated, and included in the joy of the season. The smiles were unstoppable. The energy was off the charts. And for a few unforgettable moments, the holiday magic was very real—filling hallways, classrooms, and hearts. A heartfelt thank you to Mark Miller Subaru for leading with kindness and community, and to the Utah Jazz and Bear for helping bring the experience to life. The holiday season has a way of magnifying both joy and stress. For families in recovery, it can be especially heavy; filled with hope, but also with reminders of what feels out of reach. My name is Kayla Jensen, as the Program Manager for our Salt Lake USARA office and as a woman in long-term recovery myself, I understand this reality deeply. It's why our Holiday Initiative isn't just a program to me, it's personal. Years ago, during my early recovery and while enrolled in a specialty court, the holidays felt overwhelming. I was learning how to rebuild my life one day at a time, balancing accountability, healing, and the desire to be present for my family. Financial stress was constant, and the thought of not being able to provide holiday gifts for my loved ones weighed heavily on me. When holiday support was offered to my family, it felt like a lifeline. It was one less thing to worry about during a season that already felt fragile. That support gave me space to focus on my recovery, to be present with my family, and to believe that brighter days were possible. That experience stayed with me. In 2021, we started our annual Holiday Initiative with a simple but powerful goal: to support families in recovery during the holidays, when they need it most. Each year, we partner with community organizations, donors, and volunteers to provide Christmas gifts to families who may not have any other means to do so. Families are nominated by members of our community who recognize their hard work, resilience, and commitment to recovery. What makes this initiative so meaningful is that it's about more than presents. It's about dignity. It's about reminding parents in recovery that they are seen, supported, and not alone. It's about giving children a holiday filled with joy and normalcy, regardless of the challenges their families are navigating. This year, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, we were able to provide holiday gifts for 39 individuals. Behind each number is a story; a parent showing up to treatment, a family rebuilding trust, a child waking up on Christmas morning feeling the magic they deserve. Seeing those gifts wrapped, labeled, and ready for distribution is a powerful reminder of what community support can accomplish. For me, standing on the other side of this initiative as someone in recovery has come full circle. I once received this kind of support when I needed it most. Now, I have the honor of helping provide it to others. The Holiday Initiative is proof that recovery doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in community, through compassion, generosity, and the belief that everyone deserves hope; especially during the holidays. I’m a single mom raising three kids here in Salt Lake City. I work multiple jobs to make ends meet, and while I do my best to keep food on the table, the recent government shutdown has delayed my SNAP benefits. Thankfully, the Utah Food Bank has helped us with groceries, but there are still days when I just need something quick, healthy, and ready to eat. One night I was reading an article in the Salt Lake Tribune about local restaurants offering free meals for families. What caught my attention was something unexpected: a car dealership was on the list. Mark Miller Subaru. I thought it must be a mistake. Why would a dealership be giving out free prepacked meals? Honestly, I was hesitant to go. I didn’t want to walk in and feel pressured or forced into talking about buying a car. Dealerships are known for their sales tactics, and the last thing I needed was to feel uncomfortable when I was just trying to feed my kids. But I live nearby, and curiosity and hunger got the better of me. I decided to take my kids and walk over. When we got there, I was greeted by the kindest woman named Sandra in the café. She smiled at us and handed each of my kids, and me, a boxed lunch that included a homemade meal, fresh fruit, and a drink. There was no sales pitch, no judgment, just kindness. That simple gesture meant more than I can explain. It wasn’t just about the food; it was about being seen and cared for in a moment when things felt really heavy. One meal might not seem like much, but for me, it took one worry off my list that day. You always hear that Subaru cares about the environment and animals, which is truly wonderful. But in my moment of need, I felt that Subaru, and specifically my local Subaru store, Mark Miller Subaru, cared for people. They cared for my little family when we needed it most, and I will be forever grateful. Thank you to the Miller family. Because of you, my children and I are a little less hungry today, and a lot more hopeful. I promised myself that when I’m back on my feet, I’ll come back to Mark Miller Subaru’s café and pay for another family’s meal. And when the day comes that I can buy a car, I know exactly where I’ll go, to the place that fed my family when we needed it most.

Each year, Mark Miller Subaru’s Tootsie Scramble Golf Tournament brings together community, generosity, and heart. This year’s event was no exception — laughter and friendly competition filled the fairways as golfers teed off to support local nonprofits and embody Subaru’s “Share the Love” spirit. Girls on the Run Utah was proud to join the fun — boots, cowboy hats, and all — and even more honored when the winning foursome selected us as the first-place charity recipient of a $10,000 donation from Mark Miller Subaru. This gift helps ensure that no girl is ever turned away from our program due to cost. It will provide 50 full scholarships and new running shoes for girls across Utah — empowering them with confidence, connection, and courage. More than 65% of our participants rely on financial assistance, and in 2025 we’ll serve over 2,000 girls in 11 counties. Each scholarship represents far more than a race — it’s a step toward lifelong resilience and self-belief. As one parent shared: “Before Girls on the Run, my daughter struggled with anxiety. From the first day, I saw her confidence bloom. She loves talking about her ‘I CAN power!’” Thank you, Mark Miller Subaru, the Tootsie Scramble team, and everyone who came together to Share the Love. Equality Utah had the privilege of hosting Hole #9 at Mark Miller Subaru’s Tootsie Tourney on September 28th — and to our surprise, we left the course holding an eight-foot check for $5,000! We are deeply grateful to the second-place team for selecting us as the recipients of this generous donation, and to Mark Miller Subaru for their continued partnership and visible allyship. These funds will help us enhance safety measures at our office (unfortunately) as we continue navigating challenging times for the LGBTQ community. With national conversations once again questioning marriage equality and even local landmarks like Harvey Milk Boulevard facing scrutiny, our work remains as vital as ever. Thank you Mark Miller Subaru for supporting USARA’s 2025 Salt Lake Recovery Day! This year’s theme was “Unstoppable Together” and it was on full display Saturday September 13th at Jordan Park in Salt Lake City. Mark Miller Subaru joined over 60 community partners to share the love and celebrate recovery. September is National Recovery Month, and Utah’s recovery community hosts local Recovery Day celebrations throughout the state. These events support and empower individuals in recovery and recognize the contributions of family members, service providers, and allies who come together to raise awareness that together we can recover from addiction by creating hope, healing, and health through many pathways. This year over 5,000 people attended throughout the day, enjoying live music and entertainment on the main stage, gathering swag and information from a wide array of partner booths, and participating in fun family-friendly activities. Sacred Circle Health opened the day with a special blessing, performed a traditional dance, and held an opportunity drawing. Musical numbers included rousing rap and hip hop sets from SL Manny Boy, Hartwell Tiki, and Fit To Recover. Other performances included blues, Americana, contemporary pop, sound bowls, and spoken word. Art was explored in many different ways this recovery day, including fan favorites like taking a silly picture at the USARA and Mark Miller Subaru photo booth and decorating the Subaru Color Car. Under the pavilion, people in recovery brought in their own art to display, and a premier of a new film titled “Leap of Faith” by Own It was available for viewing inside Harvey the Bus. Family-friendly activities included a visit from superheroes, education about the Jordan River Parkway from Great Salt Lake Audubon, a bird show hosted by ASAP (Avian Sanctuary And Protection), and a kid’s section featuring face-painting and lawn games that were provided by Mark Miller Subaru. Asked about highlights of the event, Tiffany Naccarato, Community Impact Director for USARA, stated, “We have found that year after year doing these Recovery Days, it is all about connecting with each person. What I’ve heard Through feedback, it is clear that a lot of people can’t connect with a large crowd, so we brought different things that allowed people to connect on an individual level – like in the Recovery Clubhouse, where you can share your story, drop off art... something for everybody.” Whether it’s getting a free haircut, learning about community resources, listening to inspirational speakers, connecting with friends, visiting a food truck, or enjoying the Queer Tea Party sponsored by Project Rainbow and Queer SLC, the 2025 Salt Lake Recovery Day, offered something for everyone. Pickleball for a Purpose - Karen S.

The Christmas Box International works to prevent child abuse and defend children through a culture of universal diversity, inclusion and love, to vulnerable children and families. Founded by author Richard Paul Evans and his wife, Keri, the organization's mission is to defend children through partnerships and programs throughout the year. That number in Utah, is more than 10,000 children. The Christmas Box house has three short-term emergency shelters in Utah provide housing, food, clothing, and therapy for children removed from abusive or neglectful situations. They also have 23 resource rooms scattered throughout the state for caseworkers to provide clothing, shoes, books, hygiene and school supplies, as well as toys to support the children. Over the last decade, the Christmas Box House facilitates have expanded their emergency shelter program to take in children who have been trafficked and are facing homelessness. We partner with organizations who have an outstanding reputation in the community and a proven track record to help them reunite children with their families. The need is great, and many of those needs are met through a variety of special events held throughout the year. One such event is called Pickleball for a Purpose. This year, we are so grateful that Mark Miller Subaru Midtown was a generous sponsor for this event, providing a financial backing as well as great support and cooperation by their staff, even sending players for the event! We had 100 players and 20 volunteers that came together to make this a great success, and it would not have been possible without the support of Mark Miller Subaru Midtown. Penelope’s Journey Home – A Purrfect Partnership - Ashley B.

Some pets find homes quickly. Others, like Penelope, spend months waiting. Penelope arrived at Salt Lake County Animal Services as a calm, reserved cat. While her gentle personality shone through with the staff and volunteers, she often blended into the background when visitors came to adopt. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. She became one of our long-term residents — the kind we get to know well, and the kind we hope for every day will finally be noticed. Long-term animals can face a harder road to adoption. They require extra care, enrichment, and attention to keep their spirits up. That’s where community partnerships make a real difference. Through our ongoing relationship with Mark Miller Subaru, we’re able to provide more visibility, more adoption support, and a little extra joy when these animals finally go home. When Penelope’s adopter walked into the shelter, it wasn’t a loud purr or playful paw that caught her attention — it was simply the quiet connection she felt looking into Penelope’s eyes. That moment was enough to make her stop, learn her story, and decide that Penelope belonged with her. Thanks to Mark Miller Subaru’s generosity, Penelope didn’t leave empty-pawed. She went home with a Subaru Bark Box for cats — a small but meaningful gift to help her settle into her new life. But more importantly, she left with a family who will give her the love and stability she’s been waiting for. On June 26, 2025, Mark Miller Subaru personally delivered these items to hospital staff and local blood cancer patients in treatment to brighten their day and provide some comfort to patients in need.

Mark Miller Subaru Supports Granite Education Foundation - Eli T.

Imagine having to go without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Salt Lake City, this can be a harsh reality. Helping others is the key to a strong community which is why Mark Miller Subaru believes in helping to support individuals and families in urgent need. This season, for our Subaru Loves to Help® initiative, we are partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need so far. On 1/15/25, Mark Miller Subaru partnered with Granite Education Foundation and donated 204 coats to children in urgent need. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.

Each year, USARA and the recovery community come together for Fields’ Day, a beloved event grounded in hope, connection, and honoring the legacy of one of Utah’s most impactful recovery advocates. This year’s celebration, held on June 7th, was made even more meaningful thanks to our partnership with Mark Miller Subaru, which generously sponsored the event as the 2025 Love to Care Partner. Fields’ Day welcomed over 300 individuals in recovery from substance use disorders to a day filled with joy, healing, and shared purpose. Thanks to Mark Miller Subaru, every guest enjoyed free meals from local food trucks, scattered yard games, and moments of true community. These experiences remind us how fun, safe, and supportive spaces are essential for long-term recovery. The event is named in memory of Evan Fields, a beloved peer recovery coach whose work rippled across Utah’s recovery courts and families. Evan championed person-first language and helped lead changes like renaming “Family Dependency Drug Court” to "Family Recovery Court", a reflection of the compassion and possibility he brought to every conversation. Though Evan passed years ago, his legacy continues to guide the spirit of Fields’ Day. His name is spoken every year as participants remember how one person’s empathy can transform systems and lives. USARA is a Recovery Community Organization whose mission is to connect and inspire communities to advocate for addiction recovery. We believe that events like Fields’ Day strengthen the heart of our mission by building safe, supportive spaces where recovery can thrive and families can heal together. We are still riding high from one of our biggest 5Ks ever—with 4,548 participants and over 2,000 girls served this year across Utah! We truly could not have done it without the incredible support of Mark Miller Subaru. The Mark Miller team showed up big—with heart, energy, and one of the coolest parts of the entire event… the colorable Subaru car! The girls absolutely loved it. It was nonstop smiles, doodles, and pure joy. Watching them light up as they added their creative touch was unforgettable. Mark Miller Subaru didn’t just show up as a sponsor, they showed up as partners in every sense. From the Love Promise tent that welcomed attendees to the positive energy the MMS team brought on race day, their presence was felt by every girl who crossed that finish line and every family member cheering from the sidelines. The support, smiles, and sense of belonging were undeniable. The cheering never stopped! From the first girl to cross the finish line to our very last girl, an Autistic girl that does not like loud noises or clapping, watching the crowd quiet down and raise their jazz hands in the air as she crossed the finish line was a true inspiration for everyone. This week, we brought one of our very special shelter dogs, Juneau, to visit our friends at Mark Miller Subaru—and it was truly a day to remember. Juneau, a 2-year-old Alaskan Malamute mix with a heart as big as his paws, lit up the room as he explored the dog-friendly showroom, met the kind-hearted team, and soaked up all the pets and attention he could get. With his fluffy coat, goofy charm, and soulful eyes, he quickly became everyone’s new favorite coworker. Getting dogs like Juneau out of the shelter, even just for a few hours, makes a world of difference. It gives them a chance to show who they really are outside the kennel walls—friendly, loving, and ready for a home. Walks through hallways, snuggles from new friends, and simply being seen all increase their chances of finding that perfect match. We’re so grateful to Mark Miller Subaru for always showing up for the people, pets, and planet. From supporting local shelters to creating safe spaces where dogs can simply be dogs, their commitment to the Subaru Love Promise helps pets like Juneau feel hope again.

Thanks to their incredible generosity and dedication to the Subaru Love Promise, Mark Miller Subaru helped us raise over $500,000, a transformative contribution that will expand access to high-quality education for children across Utah. Now in its 44th year, the Rowland Hall Auction is more than a fundraiser; it’s a cherished tradition and celebration of community. This year’s Derby Day, with its lively music, dancing, and enthusiastic bidding, was a true testament to that spirit. And at the heart of it all was Mark Miller Subaru. Through their Love Promise commitment, Mark Miller Subaru donated a brand-new Subaru Solterra for our live auction. This donation drummed up a special buzz, one that showed people that Mark Miller Subaru’s commitment to ensuring that Utah kids have access to great education. The proceeds directly support the construction of our new Richard R. Steiner Campus, a space where future generations will learn, grow, and thrive. But this story isn’t just about a car. It’s about the love that drives us. Thank you Mark Miller Subaru for supporting Utah Families through USARA’s CRAFT Family Support Program! USARA is a Recovery Community Organization whose mission is to connect and inspire communities to advocate for addiction recovery. We are dedicated to supporting families and encouraging them to participate in their own recovery process. Our CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) model is designed to help family members navigate the challenges of supporting a loved one in addiction recovery. CRAFT is an evidence-based approach that teaches loving, respectful, and non-confrontational strategies to encourage positive change. Through our program, participants learn tools to: Improve communication and coping strategies Offer kindness and compassion instead of judgment or fear Create space for their loved ones to find their own path to recovery Reclaim joy and connection in their own lives “The most helpful thing I learned in the USARA CRAFT program is to look for the positive things happening in my marriage. Keeping a positive attitude has changed the way I look at my husband. I have now created an environment of empathy, trust, and open communication. It also helps to focus on what I want my husband to ‘start’ doing instead of what I want him to ‘stop’ doing.” Kelly, long time CRAFT Family Support participant “This CRAFT program has been life-altering. When you have support that is healthy and isn't ‘you’ or ‘me’ but ‘WE’ it makes all of the difference in the world. I truly credit the CRAFT tools I’ve learned, especially the PIUS communication skills, for helping make this happen." These groups are free, open to join anytime, and offer a safe, supportive environment for those navigating similar challenges. Wednesday, May 7th marked the 3rd Annual Granite Education Foundation Teacher Appreciation Fair, an event built to celebrate and support local educators. From the very beginning, Mark Miller Subaru has been an essential partner in making this event a success. They signed on three years ago when the fair was just an idea, without knowing how big it would become. Their early commitment helped open the door to more sponsors, taking the event from a handful of supporters to over 25. Back then, no one could have predicted how big the event would become, but their early belief made all the difference. What started with just a few sponsors quickly grew into a powerhouse of more than 25, all inspired by the example set by this dedicated retailer. As an Advocate of Education, Mark Miller Subaru’s support ensured that every educator at the event received a sweet Iceberg shake and a warm slice of Domino’s pizza. This year, they went even further. Their generosity made it possible for the Granite Education Foundation to reinvest in the experience, turning appreciation into an unforgettable day. Each teacher walked in and received a food voucher, drink ticket, $25 gift card (with choices from Café Rio, Smith’s, or Crumbl), a gift bag, prize tickets for exciting giveaways, and 20 extra $250 classroom grants. These grants go directly back into local classrooms, providing much-needed support where budgets often fall short. Supporting teachers isn’t just about saying thank you. It’s about recognizing that when we invest in educators, we invest in every student they reach, every lesson they shape, and every future they help build. In a world that too often asks educators to give more than they receive, this day stood out. And behind that day stood a promise, an enduring commitment from a partner who always shows up when it counts. Mark Miller Subaru doesn’t just lend support. When they say they’re in, they mean it. They invest in the people and programs they believe in. Their continued support of this event and our mission has been a key part of its growth, and a reminder of what consistent, community-minded partnership looks like.
